Number one contender Yoel Romero takes on the number three Robert Whittaker at UFC 213. For the Interim Middleweight Championship belt currently held by England’s Michael Bisping. In episode 2 of the Dioxyme produced Countdown show. We follow Romero as he recovers from his hectic training program. By using cryotherapy and hyperbolic chambers.

We also learn about his nutrition, which should be of keen interest to anyone who is curious as to how he maintains his physique. We find out about his gruelling roadwork exercise regime and intensive Jiu-Jitsu workouts.

Jiu-Jitsu world champion Rodolfo Vieira, and USA Greco-Roman Wrestler Geordan Spieller. Make an appearance during training to push the Cuban Olympic wrestler before the big fight. We also get to hear from the Jiu-Jitsu legend Ricardo Liborio. Along with Yoel’s longtime translator and training partner Ray Fundaro.

We also get to hear first hand Yoel’s thoughts on his opponent Robert Whittaker. With him saying that;

“The biggest mistake his opponents have made is underestimating him. In the ring all fighters are dangerous. We all have two arms, two legs, one brain. We need to respect that. Never underestimate anyone or any obstacle. And all of his opponents have underestimated Whittaker.”

Yoel opens up about his own mindset. How he approaches the fight game. And what he seeks from the people he surrounds himself with.

“Knowing that all your dreams can come true if you push yourself. With Gods blessing and if you are disciplined. I thank God for having these trainers. I picked them because of their techniques, not only looked at their job professionally. But I also looked at their background. If they are family orientated if they are educated. And also if they have a positive lifestyle. This is so important to me.”
