Lawler entered the fight as the favourite with many not counting on Woodley to perform on the big stage. But how wrong they were, as Woodley would go on to beat Lawler and secure the UFC championship with a devastating stoppage. Establishing himself as the very best 170 lb fighter on the planet. And the win was pretty emphatic, as Woodle swarmed the champion.

Tyron Woodley Lands The Fight Ending Punch

It appeared for all the world that the fight had only got going. With some exchanges, followed by some wrestling against the cage. The Champion and challenger were assessing one another’s weapons. As the pair clinched against the cage before being quickly separated by the referee.

The pair stalked one another, moving from side to side with neither willing to make the first move. When at almost the halfway point of the very first round, Tyron charged Lawer, covering distance quickly and landing a solid right hand.

The blow caught Robbie Lawler flush on the jaw, dropping him to the canvas. Lawler was badly stunned and unaware of where he was when in no time Tyron Woodley jumped on his opponent. Finishing him with a flurry of shots to the head. The referee stepped in to wave off the fight as the new champion The Chosen One was crowned!

Woodley celebrated showing his sheer delight at stopping one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport. Someone who many saw holding the welterweight title for some time, but it was not to be on this occasion. And now he was the newly crowned UFC welterweight champion of the world!

Now it will be up to the champion to defend his crown against the dynamic striker Stephen Thompson. In a clash of styles which will see the seasoned karate style fighter taking on the wrestler turned striker in Tyron Woodley. And striking is something he has been improving upon each and every time he steps into the UFC octagon. And so it will be interesting to see just how he performs against the hard to handle style of Wonderboy Thompson.
