On this star-studded episode of OFT, we were joined by Irish Olympian in Amateur Boxing Michael Conlan; fast-rising UFC welterweight Darren Till; and Irish MMA pioneer Chris Fields. Leading UK-based MMA referee Daniel Movahedi also returned.
Irish Olympic bronze medalist and now-professional boxer Michael Conlan fights this Friday on the 22nd of September in his 4th professional bout. We talk about his upcoming fight, his transition from amateur to pro, the controversial GGG-Canelo fight and his clash with judging in the past, Conor McGregor’s performance, his future plans, Apollo Creed (yep!), and more. Till, who comes from a Muay Thai background, is set to compete in his biggest fight to date against ‘Cowboy’ Donald Cerrone in October in the main event of UFC Poland.
We speak about his career to date growing up in the Muay Thai scene and then the Brazilian MMA scene, along with his championship aspirations. Chris Fields, an Irish MMA pioneer, who has recently signed with KSW and will compete on KSW’s Dublin card, returned to the show for the second time to speak about his unlucky streak lately with injuries and fights falling out, signing with KSW, coaching, and more.
The guys were then joined by referee Daniel Movahedi for “Referee’s Corner” where they discussed standing TKOs in MMA.
