Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor UFC189 Cancelled? Say it isn’t True

JOSE ALDO VS CONOR MCGREGOR UFC189 What Happened?

What a difference a day makes, one moment you are on cloud nine singing along to your favourite tune. Until you receive the damming text message “Aldo is out, fight cancelled”!!! Must be a typo or someone got is wrong, somewhere in the vast inter-web ether, crossed wires or an overzealous local tabloid rag perhaps?

So you do some quick searches and find out, no no, there is a problem. Jose Aldo is injured and quite seriously by all accounts, but is he down and out of the picture 100%! signed sealed delivered? UFC president Dana White has been doing his bit to calm the baying masses.

What we do know is that Jose Aldo has a fracture to his rib and that there is talk of him requiring weeks of recuperation. But right now at this very moment, we are simply running on hearsay. No doubt the MMA media headlines will be awash with any crumb of information, be it spot on or a calculated stab in the dark in the hope of being the first to break the news.

Waiting On Dana White To Make A Decision

The best thing we can do is sit back, relax, pour our preferred drink of choice and wait for the big bossman over at the Ultimate Fighting Championships to hit us with the truth, good or bad.

While we are doing that, we are allowed to let out minds wander to contemplate some other potential matchups which could fill the Aldo void for the now monstrous UFC 189, just a few short weeks away. From an Irish perspective a potential rematch between one of the two people to ever beat Conor McGregor, one Joseph Duffy would be a mouth-watering alternative and a huge opportunity for the man from Donegal. Joe had this to say a little bit earlier:

“If Jose is out I’m willing to step in and beat @TheNotoriousMMA again!! “

How this will turn out is anyone’s guess. But if the Aldo headline is true and with a rumoured 25% of the tickets sold going to Irish fans alone. How crazy would it be to see Duffy and McGregor go toe to toe once again in front of a packed MGM crowd? It’s the stuff of fairytales… and we have already had the Cinderella man story. So anything is possible.
