John Kavanagh: Talks Floyd Mayweather’s Clinch Game and Strip Clubs

Coach John Kavanagh Talks Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor

MMA coach John Kavanagh, head coach to UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor speaks about Floyd Mayweather. Kavanagh discusses the clinch, which is one of Mayweather’s go-to moves in a fight. He talks about how Floyd uses the tactic, especially if he gets hit with a shot. Using over hooks and undertook well in order to tie up his opponent.

John then goes into discussing Conor’s clinch game and how it’s something they have to constantly train. In MMA a fighter constantly has to deal with their opponents trying to clinch against the cage. With wrestlers who try to hold on to avoid strikes. He believes that Mayweather’s clinch is completely novice when compared to Conor’s. Because the clinching game is such an integral part of Mixed Martial Arts. And this he believes is a major advantage for their fighter.

Floyd’s Lack Of Activity

Moving on to the next topic, Kavanagh points out the lack of activity by Floyd over the last 3 – 4 years. While Floyd has been away from the sport of boxing, Conor McGregor has been very busy. Just coming off the biggest fight of all time in MMA against Eddie Alvarez, where McGregor claimed the UFC Lightweight title. Now he is going into the biggest fight of all time in the boxing World.

“He seems mostly to be involved in strip clubs and night clubs and lawsuits and stuff like that. That is where his energy has been going.” – John Kavanagh

He talks about how Conor is used to having a big build up’s followed by a big performance. Then the next day he is already on the phone to Dana and Lorenzo and they have already made the next fight. And then that build upstarts.

Following Mayweather’s career, he has had a few fights in the last few years. But he seems mostly to be involved in strip clubs and night clubs and lawsuits and stuff like that. That is where his energy has been going. Whereas their energy for the last four years has been a foot to the floor! Ready for high-level fights.
