Francis NGannou vs Zoumana Cissé and His Only Loss

FRANCIS NGANNOU VS ZOUMANA CISSÉ Loss

Many fans of the UFC will only be familiar seeing top heavyweight contender Francis NGannou knocking out his opponents. But before making the move to the Ultimate Fighting Championships. NGannou fought a total of six times under other promotions.

Back in 2013, he faced Zoumana Cissé at 100% Fight Contender 21 in Paris France as the main event. It was only his second fight as a professional and showed us a fighter who was very much learning on the job.

In a back and forth contest, NGannou would eventually lose via unanimous decision. Giving him what is for the now the only loss on his 13 fight record.

Since coming to the UFC, he has looked like a fighter who gets better with each contest. Currently, 6-0 with the promotion. NGannou has made his way from newbie to top contender in two shorts years. With a UFC record of 5 KO/TKO’s and 1 win via submission. He has become known as a big puncher, knocking some of his opponents out cold with just one shot.

Facing Stipe Miocic UFC 220

With big names, such former champion Andre Arlovski and Alistair Overeem dispensed with relative ease, he now faces the biggest test of his career. With a title fight at UFC 220 against reigning champion Stipe Miocic.

Entering the fight as the favourite over the champion. It’s NGannou’s improving skills, athleticism and clear knockout power which has placed him as the odds-on favourite to win. But, he is coming up against a champion who on paper at least, outshines his counterpart from Cameroon.

When the two meet in Boston on January 20th, it will be one of the biggest heavyweight clashes in recent memory. With the two countries of USA/Croatia and Cameroon cheering on their own. It’s a story which may either have a fairytale or nightmare ending. But one thing is for sure! Stipe Miocic vs Francis NGannou is a story which has it all.
