Fabricio Werdum: Duality in MMA – Breakdown / Film Study

Fabricio Werdum Film Study/Breakdown

Many people ask me about the duality logo that I put at the end of my videos, I wanted to address in video form. I think the best example of the importance of the sentiment, in the context that I use it maybe Fabricio Werdum, although it could’ve been a few others as well.

In science (physics), dualism refers to mediums with properties that can be associated with the mechanics of two different phenomena. Because these two phenomena’s mechanics are mutually exclusive, both are needed in order to describe the possible behaviours….(this is where martial arts comes in, it’s not about religion as much as it is balanced).

Fabrício Werdum is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and the current UFC Heavyweight Champion. He is also a two-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, a two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) World Heavyweight Champion.

He now trains his BJJ w/ 2015 ADCC champion and one of the best grapplers ever in Rubens ‘Cobrinha’ Charles. So this moment, while it may have shocked the world, didn’t shock any high-level Jiu-Jitsu practitioners as soon as Fedor saw it fit to go into Werdum’s guard, which is like a moth to the flame scenario.

Werdum became not only an accomplished grappler but UFC champion after training at Kings MMA gym located in Huntington Beach, California, headed by 2012 Coach of the Year Rafael Cordeiro. Cordeiro is a brilliant striking coach and former BlackHouse striking coach and Vale Tudo fighter.

It is the home gym of two current UFC champions; heavyweight Fabrício Werdum and lightweight Rafael dos Anjos.
