UFC 214: Inside the Octagon – Woodley vs Maia, Cyborg vs Evinger
We go inside the octagon with Dan Hardy and John Gooden. As the dynamic duo break down two of the title fights at UFC 214. Including co-main welterweight championship between Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia. Plus the vacant women’s featherweight title fight, as Cris Cyborg, finally faces a challenger in Tonya Evinger. Two huge fights on a massive card.
This will be Woodley’s third title defence, after successfully beating the number on challenger Stephen Thompson twice. This time, however, is a very different fighter, as the Champ goes toe to toe or back to back with BJJ phenom, Demian Maia. Maia is undoubtedly the best Jiujitsu practitioner in the UFC. And brings a whole new set of problems for Woodley. The two could be seen some time ago fooling around. As Woodley playfully jumped on Maia’s back, mimicking what the Brazilian has been nicknamed by some, as the backpack.
There’s no secret where Maia wants to take the fight. While Woodley will look to use his superior striking and wrestling to nullify Maia’s ground game.
It’s Finally Cris Justino’s Time
While Cris Justino Cyborg finally faces a challenger in a division which was built specifically for her. There’s a certain air of lamb to the slaughter for this bout. As Evinger, the Invicta 135lb Champion, faces the most dangerous 145lb female fighter on the planet. If Evinger was to somehow scrape a win against Cyborg. It would no doubt go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. It would also throw a serious spanner in the UFC’s future plans for Cris. Who for such a long time has been sitting idly by, waiting for her opportunity to grab that featherweight belt.
The action takes place July 29th on a stacked UFC 214 card. But before that, let’s go inside the octagon with Mr Gooden and Mr Hardy
