khabib Nnurmagomedov Returns to Active Competiton at UFC on Fox 19

How long has it been since we saw The Eagle Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the cage? Almost exactly 2 years to the day. When the top lightweight contender beat current champion Rafael dos Anjos by a unanimous three round decision. Khabib had gone (6 – 0) since entering the promotion 2 years earlier. And quickly found himself being mentioned in the title conversation. At 22 – 0 in mma, the Russian two time world Sambo champion looked to be on a one way path to the title. Before his journey was abruptly cut short by a series of injuries which have kept him out of active competition ever since. That all changes this weekend when he faces UFC newcomer Darrell Horcher who stepped in at late notice for Tony Ferguson in his first fight back inside the octagon. It’s been a long road back for the 155lb’er who has wasted no time in rubishing some of his potential future opponents. He may not be facing a top ten fighter, but all the same, tonight’s fight should hopefully give us at least some insight into where Nurmagomedov currently is.
