Rose Namajunas vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz Full Fight UFC 201
UFC strawweight Karolina Kowalkiewicz stopped rapidly rising Rose Namajunas in her tracks at UFC 201 to remain undefeated. Now, she brings her 10-0 professional record into the Octagon against strawweight champion and fellow Polish fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205. In a huge all Polish clash, we find out who is the best female fighter in the world at 115 lbs. Will Joanna finally meet her match or will we see the first blemish on the professional record of Kowalkiewicz?
Namajunas vs Kowalkiewicz Round One
A tentative opening round for the strawweights as Karolina and Rose. With few shots landing for the first four minutes of the fight. Rose has been working on her boxing with some professional fighters and its obvious. As she lands a beautiful right hand over the top and stuns Kowalkiewicz.
Karolina tries to push forward and lands some shots, but nothing that does and damage. The pair clinch in the last minute as Karolina lands some nice knees. Rose answers back with her own right hand and the fight hits the ground. Kowalkiewicz almost has Roses’s back but ends up getting mounted, as the round ends with Rose on top.
Round Two
Early in the second round. Rose tries to take Karolina down but gets blocked. As the Polish fighter lands some nice elbows and knees in the clinch. Rose has the under hook, but it’s Karolina who is getting off the more telling blows in close. As the pair break, Karolina lands some nice kicks and punches. But Rose is right there replying with her own one-two combinations.
It’s a very close round with no obvious winner, but it’s the knees of Kowalkiewicz which are the most effective of the round. And as the round draws to a close, we can tell that much of the pop from the punches of Namajunas has now been taken away.
Round Three
Round three and Karolina continues with her devastating knees, repeatedly catching and hurting Rose. Then during a clinch, the Pole lands some beautiful Muay Thai elbows that send Rose to the mat. Kowalkiewicz continues her assault landing some hard elbows as the pair scramble.
Rose tries to sink in an armbar but loses it and Karolina continues to pour on the punishment from the top. We can see Karolina’s strength in the clinch as she grapples with Namajunas on the ground. As the fight draws to a close with another strong round for the Polish fighter.
Karolina was still very much of an unknown in the UFC. But with a win over the rising Thug Rose very much stamped her own name on a division dominated by a fellow Polish fighter. How Rose would bounce back from this loss has yet to be decided. But with a split decision loss, it may not be too long before we see her back in the UFC octagon fighting for a title!
