Gennady Golovkin: HBO Presents 2 Days

Gennady Golovkin Before His Title Defense To Gabriel Rosado

This HBO short segment documents what happened in the 2 days prior to Gennady Golovkin defending his WBA & IBO Middleweight titles against Gabriel Rosado. In one of the biggest fights of his career, the undefeated Kazakh professional boxer caught a bad cold after arriving in the US. With the whole fight teetering on a knife-edge, the Golovkin camp had their work cut out to keep his illness a secret. While at the same time doing their best to ensure he got better before fight day.

It’s an enthralling bit of film which gives you some great insight into the personality and fighting ability of the humble destroyer. This weekend Golovkin faces Canadian David Lemieux at Madison Square gardens with both fighters putting their respective titles on the line. In Golovkin’s first outing as a true PPV star. Will he continue his unabated undefeated rise to the top or will he falter against the dangerous Lemieux.

Golovkin has become one of the biggest stars in the sport. A feared puncher who has taken out the majority of his opponents with vicious knockout power. And now as he goes into this title defence he finds himself unable to breathe properly and being seriously weak from the cold which he cannot seem to shake off. We get to see the build-up the team and fighter have to go through. And the tension in the air as they wait to see what will happen in the lead up to fight night.

And it is all going come fight day a GGG wakes up fro ma dream and says that he is now feeling great. The fight is on and it’s Golovkin vs Rosado for the title. And wouldn’t you know it, the man from Kazakhstan puts on a clinic stopping the challenger. Once again proving he is one of the very best in the world, with or without a cold.
