GGG vs Canelo is right around the corner, and with the eyes of MMA likely to be on it, I thought I’d give a bit of a preview of some of the things you may expect between the two from a technical standpoint. Here we will focus on what makes the Mexican stylings of the KO king from Kazakhstan so impressive. As most good striking coaches will tell you, it isn’t power for the sake of power, nor speed for the sake of speed that makes the finisher/specialist so impressive. At times it’s the method to the (what appears to be) madness.
Since starting to work with Abel Sanchez GGG has become the purist, pundit, and point A fan’s favourite pugilist. His Cheshire Cat-like smile glossing over the assassin inside makes him one of the most exciting fighters I’ve seen in my lifetime. Let’s talk technique…shall we?
