Fedor Emelianenko’s MMA Seminar Slovenia 2007

Fedor Emelianenko’s MMA Seminar Slovenia 2007

Fedor Emelianenko is back in the news after he recently stated that he is once again ready to compete. Over the years the Russian fighter has built a mystique and legendary status. He formerly retired in 2012 with a record of 34 – 4 – 1, with 3 of those loses having been accumulated in the latter years of his career, over a two year period while fighting under the Strikeforce banner. Regarded by many pundits and fighters alike as the greatest of all time to ever step in side the cage. A return to action by The Last Emperor is indeed an exciting prospect for many fans of the sport.

Alternatively there are many who have openly stated that they would rather see him stay in retirement. With nothing left to prove, what potential fights are available to the Russian phenom. Surely a once much touted matchup with another now retired legend Randy Couture will be now doubt be on peoples minds. But in reality, do people really want to see these two greats re-enter the cage? Yes would more than likely be the answer to that. As we saw with the return to action of Ken Shamrock against Kimbo Slice. It seems as though the casual fight fan is open to pretty much any matchup of former big name fighters.

Here we see Fedor giving a seminar in mixed martial arts in Slovenia back in 2007. A period in his career where PRIDE Fighting Championships had come to an end. And multiple other, now defunct promotions were vying for a piece of the Russian fighters iconic status. He would eventually sign with Strikeforce in 2009, losing three fights between 2010 – 2011.

How will a now 38 year old Fedor look on a return to action is anyone’s guess. Often when anyone at the top of their game steps away, they are remembered for the greatness they brought to their craft. If Fedor Emelianenko does eventually step back inside the cage to compete. Lets hope it isn’t a disappointing run for the legendary fighter.
