Conor McGregor Interview 2013: I am Everything I Want to Be

Rare Old Conor McGregor Interview: In the Beginning

If you are a fan and you haven’t seen this Conor McGregor interview in full before, then you are in for a real treat. He talks about what inspires him as a person. Where does he get his inspiration to continue on this path he has chosen? Well, he takes his inspiration from everything, with no one set thing being the main driver. It comes from people who go out there and put themselves out there.

People who are trying to chase something down no matter what that could be! It could be Martial Arts, could be anything, a guy chasing a college degree. Someone chasing their dreams…

And what has practising Martial Arts done for him and his life? Well, it’s given him focus and without it Conor doesn’t know where he would be. He says that anytime he has drifted away from training he loses focus. Martial arts gives him dedication and a drive. And its something that nothing else could do for him.

And what scares him the most? Well, he says that he doesn’t fear, fear itself, too much.

“I don’t Know, I Don’t Really Fear Anything to be honest.”

He goes on to say that he doesn’t really think about things like that and that nothing really scars him. People might be expecting him to say he fears losing or defeat. Defeat isn’t something he fears, even success isn’t something that inspires him. He doesn’t really think about it. He just goes through his life, doing his own thing.

And what would the Conor McGregor of today have to say to the 19-year-old Conor from 5 years ago? Just stick with it, keep doing what you’re doing. Because it’s going to happen for you. 19 was probably the age in his head he was saying “I can make this happen”. He just knew, he wasn’t an angel and says that he was in and out of trouble. So he would have told his younger self just to stick with it, it will happen for you.

And what did the, at the time, 24-year-old Conor McGregor want to be? Well, he didn’t want to be anything.

“I am Everything I Want to Be, I’m Already There.”

Conor says that he doesn’t want anything. While other people say they want to do this and do that. But the vibe you are putting out is, want! Whereas he always has the attitude of “I have”. Conor says that he always felt like he was a black belt, he was always the World Champion. That he could already do everything. Giving the example of him walking around with a rental surfboard like he was a pro.

“I don’t Want Anything I have Everything. That’s the Mindset I’m in.”

A fascinating insight into a younger McGregor as he is only beginning his amazing journey, in the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Looking back you can truly see how and why his mindset has gotten him this far. How far it will take him on this journey has yet to be written.
